This is one of the best-selling portable khukuris of the Ex Gurkha Khukuri House. This 6″ Balanced Throwing Khukuri (also called “kukri” or “khukri” by some westerners) has a unique shape that makes the knife more beautiful. This shape of the khukuri is similar to that of a Boomerang. The balance khukuri means that its balancing point lies within the sharp edge of the blade rather than at the notch or the bolster when balancing the khukuri on a stick/rod. It is very difficult to craft this kind of khukuri because the weight of the blade & handle should be considered while forging the khukuri to create the perfect balance for throwing this khukuri. There is a saying that if you throw this knife, it will hit the target with the tip or the sharp edge forward.
The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as the conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing an enemy blade.
The size of the blade is 6-inch made from highly graded 5160 carbon steel and is unpolished. The handle is about 3.8-inch (9.5cm) and is very practical, comfortable and beautiful. It is made from rosewood with a full tang where the full width of the blade runs through to the handle. The two wooden rosewood pieces of the handle are joined to the blade by metal rivets. There is also a blocker on the handle for the protection of the user’s hand.
This khukuri can be used for cutting meat, fruits & vegetable, outdoor hunting, skinning, etc. This knife can also be used as a portable utility knife.
